SMS

SMS enables you to send a textual message from your Vip mobile phone towards other GSM users. The sent textual message  will be written on the screen of the receiver's mobile phone. You can receive messages in the same manner. Every message can contain up to 160 alfanumerical signs. The SMS service  is available for every Vip user. Please read the manual for your mobile phone in order to write, send, receive and erase SMS messages in the correct manner.

Sending SMS

Please select the option for writing textual messages in your mobile phone's menu. Enter the text by using the keypad on the phone. Enter the number of the person to whom you want to send a message.

When you are sending a message to a Vip user enter 077xxxxxx or +38977xxxxxx so that xxxxxx is the number of the person to whom you want to send a message. When you are sending a message to any other GSM user in the world, enter +(or 00), then the country code, the prefix of the network (without 0) and the number of the user's mobile phone. The number of the SMS centre (+ 389 77 000 301) is stored on your SIM card. When the textual message is successfuly sent, on your screen will appear “Message sent”. This message only confirms that the message has arrived at the above mentioned SMS center, from where it will be transmitted through to the receiver, but that doesn’t confirm that he has received the message.

Receiving SMS

Most mobile phones inform you about a received SMS with a short sound or light signal, i.e. on your screen will appear an icon in a letter format. At the beginning of the message content you'll the sender's phone number and the time when the message was sent. The received messages are saved on your SIM card or in your mobile phone memory depending on the model. If you can not receive the message for any reason (for example, your mobile phone is switched off or  the memory of your Vip SIM card or phone memory is filled with mesages), then the message will be saved in the SMS center for 50 hours until you switch on your mobile phone or until your SIM card is ready to receive a message. On your Vip SIM card can be saved 50 textual messages. If both the SIM card and of your mobile phone memory are full, you can not receive messages. In order to continue receiving messages on time you have to erase every received message after you have read it  or if you do not need it any more.

SMS messages written in Cyrillic characters are differently packed than SMS messages written in Latin characters. This means that in the process of trans-coding, more binary places are required to display one letter in Cyrillic than to display one letter in the normal Latin coding (ASCII).

For this reason, the content that is written with Cyrillic letters can take up several connected SMS messages, depending on the length of the said content. The price for sending such a message will depend on the number of sent connected SMS messages. With most mobile phones, the user has control over the number of SMS messages necessary for sending the written content, i.e. he can control the number of characters that remain for filling out every SMS message that will be charged.
